Quality sheets and bedding have long been a blindspot for the fashion head - many an archivist takes off their $3,000 Ann Demeulemeester suit after a long hard day of lowballing, and tucks in to their $100 cotton/tencel sheet set they got off of Amazon. My logic is, if you’re going to spend 1/3 of your life in your sheets, you’ve ought to drop the dough necessary to cop a quality set (if you’ve got it like that). In addition, a swagged out, mixed-pattern, colour palleted ensemble of textiles can really make a bedroom pop. So here is my list of 5 bedding brands you should check out. Toast
This is where I got my duvet cover and shams, personally I went for the organic cotton ticking stripe in Ecru/Straw. I’ve been super happy with them so far, they’ve held up great through washes, they’re very comfortable, breathable, and look amazing.
Piglet in Bed
And this is where I picked up the rest of my sheets - pillow cases, fitted sheet, and flat sheet. The amount of options here is pretty nuts, great if you want to mix solids or patterns. Overall their presentation is very cottagey, but you could easily create some more refined, sophisticated combinations with their bedding builder. I went for all linen and so far they’ve only gotten softer with time.
Deiji Studios
Word of caution here! Before going to Toast I actually bought a “King” sized duvet cover from Deiji Studios, but sadly I’d not checked the dimensions. Much to my surprise, mattress sizes are not standardized from country to country, and seeing that Deiji is an Australian brand, their King duvet cover was actually fit for a USA/CA Queen. So be sure to double check measurements before you order. Despite my oversight, Deiji produces some of my favourite patterns in gorgeous French linen, very nostalgic.
Magniberg
On some real Patrick Bateman shit, Magniberg makes these marvellous “Wall Street” striped sheets inspired by dress shirt fabrics from the 80s. Super crisp and clean cut, they’re certainly a departure from the more organic, crunchy options I’ve listed so far. In addition, they also offer some saturated solids if you want some real colour pops.
Red Land Cotton
A favourite of Reddit’s “Buy it for Life” crowd, Red Land Cotton sheets are made and milled in the USA from Alabama grown cotton. I’ve read countless testimonials raving about the quality and value of these bedsheets, and personally I think the ticking stripe pattern looks fantastic.
