Mexico City Guide
Where to eat, how to buy, and what to see in CDMX.
Having just returned from my second trip to the sprawling metropolis of Mexico City, I figured I’d put y’all on to my favourite discoveries so far. Considering this city has nearly as many occupants as my home country, it’s safe to say that I’ve only just scratched the surface of this vibrant, lively locale. Like most tourists, I’ve spent most of my time in the Roma, Condesa, and Coyoacán neighbourhoods, which I feel I have a pretty good grasp on. Next time I visit I’d love to venture deeper, so if you have any recommendations of where else to check out, I’d love to hear them.
This guide will be a little different from some of my others in that there’s less focus on shopping/material goods, and a little more emphasis on food, arts, and culture. CDMX is among the best food destinations in the world ranging from Michelin-starred fine dining to cheap taquerias (you can also find Michelin-starred taquerias as well). You’ll find marvels of architecture ranging from Spanish classical to brutalism and modernism, all with a particular flavour I haven’t seen in other North American cities. However, when it comes to shopping, CDMX wouldn’t be my first choice on the continent (and there’s nothing wrong with that). I’ve outlined some shops to check out, but the bulk of my recommendations are going to surround eating, drinking, and looking at beautiful things, as you’ll see with the maps below.

The Map(s):
In order to make it easy for everyone, I’ve built a number of interactive Google Maps lists you’ll be able to access via a link under each category. You can save these lists and use them to a) plan your trip out beforehand or b) be spontaneous and see what’s near you at any given time. In addition, I’ll be highlighting a few favourites in every category. These maps will cover the following topics:
